Overview
There are only few "Approved for Breeding" Shagya-Arabian stallions standing at stud in USA.
The bay stallion, Rio Bravo AF, by Janos (Salem x Bashira) and out of Rachelle AA is one of these three and he stands at stud at The Backwoods Ranch .
Rio was approved for breeding as a youngster by two European ISG Judges. He was not used for breeding for a number of years, but upon being purchased by Jamie Hughes and then by the Haddenhams, he has produced a number of foals.
His sire Janos was bred by Addy Loch who had imported his sire and dam to British Columbia. Janos was a successful endurance horse in USA before being sold to Japan. Rio's dam Rachelle AA is by Hungarian Bravo out of the purebred Arabian mare WC Rachelle.
Rio has a number of half siblings that are approved stallions or successful riding horses that have competed across a variety of disciplines, including endurance and eventing.
Rio is Approved Book I with both ISG Member registries for North America. He stands a solid 15 hands. His color genetics are Aa, Ee - meaning he can produce black, bay and chestnut foals depending on the mare's color genetics. Rio has a calm dependable character and stout build. His foals tend to inherit his wonderful personality.
