Overview
Dylasau Crosstown Gold, aka "Nugget", was imported to Virginia from Wales as a weanling. He was selected for his outstanding pedigree and type, as well as his unique color. With genetic profile Ee Aa nCr and no grey gene, Nugget can produce any color including his own buckskin (cream gene on bay base), palomino (cream gene on chestnut base) or double dilute (if bred to a dilute mare), as well as the traditional colors of bay, black, and chestnut. He will not produce grey unless bred to a grey mare. Nugget stood 16.0 hh as a 3 year old, and is expected to finish at 16.1-16.2.
His pedigree includes top Irish Draught lines including Mountain Pearl, Crosstown Dancer, Cork Arthur, and the female family of Gortfree Hero.
Nugget was inspected and approved for breeding by the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (IDHSNA) in Fall of 2024, and awarded Class 1 for his outstanding characteristics and traditional Irish type. Inspectors noted his short cannon bones and strong forearm, flat square knees, short back, depth of girth and powerful hindquarters as strong examples of the breed standard, and especially enjoyed his endearing personality. See the Linear Profile from his inspection for details about his conformation, temperament, and jumping evaluations.
All progeny can be registered with the IDHSNA. For non-Irish Draught mares, regardless of breed or registration status, foals will receive IDSH classification, and are eligible for inspection into the Irish Draught Sport Horse breeding book.
Irish Draught horses are considered a warmblood breed. They are sound, sensible, and intelligent, are known for their extremely gentle dispositions, and are a great choice for novice riders. Their movement is smooth, and their stride covers a lot of ground; they are versatile and a good choice for jumping, eventing, dressage, and driving. When crossed with Thoroughbreds or Warmbloods, they produce a highly athletic horse with the solid bone that is crucial to the well-being of an equine athlete intended for fox hunting or as a hunter/jumper at a competitive level. The classic cross with the Irish Draught is to the Thoroughbred, to produce a traditional Irish Hunter type that excels as an allrounder suited for pleasure and athletic disciplines such as foxhunting, English and Western showing, eventing, jumping, and trail riding/hacking.The ID has also been successfully crossed with stock breeds, Arabians, and other non traditional breeds to add bone, substance, and temperament.

Performance
Dylasau Crosstown Gold's first show was at Upperville in the Irish Draught in-hand class as a 3 year old, where he was in the ribbons in a large field! Nugget will be starting under saddle in 2025, with training in foxhunting and eventing.
Bred to jump, Nugget is a grandson of Mountain Pearl, one of the most influential Irish Draught stallions. Mountain Pearl was a horse of exceptional athleticism with superb, people oriented temperament. Imported to the US in late 1997, he stood at stud with Fox Hollow Sport Horses through April 2007 until he returned to Ireland.
Nugget's damsire, Scrapman, was noted in his inspection as "display[ing] a good walk and very good powerful trot with excellent impulsion and balance. He showed very good length of stride in canter combined with good impulsion and balance.” At only 5 years old and a short time competing, he accumulated 93 SJI points and an unrivalled 8 double clear showjumping rounds at 1.20. At nine years of age, Scrapman became Ireland's top Irish Draught stallion and was later exported to Mexico to become a foundation sire for their sport breeding program.
Nugget comes from the female family of the great ID stallion Gortfree Hero, who is a grade A showjumper at 1.30m and was twice champion Irish Draught stallion at the Royal Dublin Show, and received Two Gold merits from HSI for his own performance.
